In 1941, the US government displaced 150 families to build a sprawling military fortress on Seneca Lake, and the 24-mile fence they installed accidentally created a sanctuary for a rare herd of all-white deer at the new Seneca Army Depot.
The Depot later held the Army’s largest nuclear weapons stockpile, and when Cold War tensions peaked in 1983, mysterious lights appeared in the skies around the site, mirroring earlier UFO sightings at other nuclear arms facilities.
